[About]

[About]

Work in Progress is a meeting for creators aimed at locating and showcasing digital talent, no matter their natural habitat.

In this 4th edition, we focus on how an idea transforms when the perspective changes. Because creating is about dialoguing with different approaches, being influenced, reworking what seemed finished, and opening up to the unexpected.

Here, we celebrate that constant transformation. That way of facing creativity without predefined paths. With openness, with listening, with the willingness to be touched by new perspectives.

Because sharing our vision is also a way to discover new ways of doing things. Welcome to Work in Progress 2025, a space to look from other places.

“Translations”

Graphic design workshop focused on an exhibition’s public image

Jun 5, 12:00h — 14:00h

Taught by

Mikel Calvo (WIP 2022)

We occasionally visit museums to see their exhibitions, but often our interest originates from the graphic elements we encounter in our urban and digital environment: banners, social media ads, press banners and ads, audiovisual pieces on bus shelters, etc. This workshop invites participants to select one of the museum’s exhibitions to perform the same exercise: how to translate the essence of an exhibition visually for its public impact. The challenge? The creativity of the design, how to approach its public projection, and the constraints set by the institution.

“Whispers”

Workshop on natural and surreal textures inspired by Max Ernst

Jun 5, 12:00h — 14:00h

Taught by

Julia Lasa [WIP 2022]

Based on the 34 phototypes that make up Max Ernst’s Natural History, this workshop offers a creative and conscious approach to texture and nature. We invite participants to explore hidden and organic forms gathered from the natural environment. Through observation and plastic experimentation, we will connect with a surreal vision of the natural world, opening the door to personal imaginaries. We will work with elements like leaves and branches to discover new images, as if nature itself whispered its thoughts. A space to look, imagine, and create from the depths of the visual unconscious.

[FAQs]

It's an initiative (now in its 4th edition) by the digital agency Workoholics. The goal is to discover and promote talent (whether emerging or established) related to disciplines like visual creativity, design, photography and video, illustration, motion graphics, typography, AI, creative coding, or digital content creation.

It's a marathon-style session where each creator has 12 minutes to showcase their work. The format is hybrid: while it takes place at Workoholics' space in Bilbao, everything will be live-streamed on Workoholics' Twitch channel.

On Friday, June 6, 2025, starting at 10:00 AM, at Workoholics' space in central Bilbao. If you're among the 12 selected participants, we'll contact you well in advance so you can plan accordingly.

Our physical space is large but limited, so in-person attendance isn't possible. However, you can email us at wip@workoholics.es to discuss. Of course, you can watch everything live on our Twitch channel. Afterward, we'll upload the session for on-demand viewing. Selected speakers may bring one guest.

For the fourth year in a row, the iconic clothing and sneaker brand joins Work in Progress in its mission to foster creativity in all its wonderful forms—including digital. Vans has been part of our cultural imagination across generations. It's innovation, experience, youth, but also old-school—values that connect with our culture and that of creators who see Vans as a brand representing a way of being, working, and living. Vans sneakers are made to repeat, try, experiment… That's the spirit of Work in Progress.
